Personal appreciation about virtual music

Being involved in this work makes me curious to know if I can utilize my Computer Science background and my past music experience to make innovative music, I have seen and listened to some laptop orchestra performances at some universities and I admit that I could not feel the joy that a real piece of song causes on me. Even though I saw a lot of technology, I could not find a lot of talent to compose virtual melodies, to play a new virtual instruments, and to harmoniously mix virtual sounds and melodies into a pleasant song. I think one of the reasons why these virtual performances did not quite catch my attention may be found in the fact that some people tend to think that computers are going to replace real instruments and real musicians. I don’t think this is the case. Conversely, I believe that computers are just tools intended to be used by talented musicians, I am convinced that nowadays musicians not only have traditional instruments or traditional sounds to compose something, but also computers which can be used to open the musical horizons by exploring totally new sounds and using them to make and play an amazing, new master piece.
